Last Days of School

On Wednesday, Cooper had his last party at his elementary school.  Here he is with his teacher.

Our family has been blessed with some super teachers!

It was so weird picking Cooper up for the last time.  We've been at this school for 8 years.....since Hudson started kinder. I feel like my car could drive itself there.

Friday was officially the first day of summer.  We took the boys to see the TMNT movie.  Looking forward to some fun and lazy days with these 2.

Field Day and Boredom Buckets

Cooper wrapped up his first season of baseball.  He had a great time and we were blown away by how awesome and supportive and encouraging these boys were to him.  Even though it was his first season, these boys cheered him on and made him feel part of the team.  It definitely renewed my faith in youth sports!

Last Friday, this guy had Field Day.  It rained quite a bit last week so they had Field Day inside.

The art teacher had the kids use "Draw So Cute" on You Tube and it walks you through step-by-step how to draw something.  My guy LOVED it.

Sweet friends.  My guy is having a hard time that he won't see them next year.  I'm already praying that he finds some amazing friends next year at his new school.

As soon as he got home.....he asked if he could do the "Draw So Cute" on You Tube.  I am not a huge You Tube fan because its a dangerous place for kids but this app has given Cooper HOURS of fun.  Check it out if you have littles that like to draw.

If you've read this blog then you know that I love making Boredom Baskets for my boys during the summer.  Okay, let's be honest......these are really designed for Cooper- my child that could go to the library, eat lunch with friends, hit the water park all afternoon and get home to ask me "what are we doing next?"  He wants to play and be entertained all the time.  And mama don't have energy for all that!

This list has obviously changed as they have gotten older.  Cooper's is just slightly different but here is Hudson's:

And you may wonder why brushing your teeth, washing your face, and putting on your deodorant are written on a list?  Well, I was blessed with a teenager that doesn't see the importance of hygiene.

The goal of this is:

1.  To limit the amount of time they are on technology

2.  To never hear the words "I'm bored"

3.  To encourage them to use their imaginations

You can print off free word searches, crossword puzzles and mazes.

I bought several things off Amazon that I will use throughout the summer.  Puzzles, books, Comic strip books (where they write and draw their own comics), building blocks, etc.....

I place the buckets in a spot in our kitchen.  Whenever they get bored, they go to their bucket and find something to do.  This has been a lifesaver for many years!

So Shawn and I have been meaning to try the Modern Market in Southlake and last night we finally did.  Oh my......what were we waiting for?  It's a farm to table style restaurant.  Pretty much everything is made in house.  It was clean and fresh and super yummy.  We will def be back!

Birthday and Quick Road Trip

I was long overdue for a manicure and pedicure so last week, I took a couple hours and pampered myself.  I love taking my YL lotion and having them use that instead of the lotion they use.  This one is safe and non-toxic.

So this probably won't be funny to anyone else but I want to document this for me.  As I've mentioned before......this guy is a talker.  As in, he NEVER STOPS TALKING.  And if he hears YOU talking and he didn't catch the conversation, he will say "wait, what?'  Its hilarious.  So the other day when I saw this shirt, I just had to get it for him.

On Friday, I took a quick little road trip up to Edmond, Oklahoma to help teach an all day class for my team up there.  I left pretty early on Friday but I still had THIS to get through.  Sheesh!

On Saturday, this group of ladies put together an AMAZING day full of classes and Make and Takes.  It was amazing.

My sweet friend, Jill.  She and I did all the presenting this day and what is funny is that she and I are both huge introverts that do NOT like public speaking.  We slathered ourselves with oils and managed to get through the day and have a great time.

So thankful for these new friendships.

Yesterday was my mom's birthday so we met at Pappasito's for lunch.

Life Lately

Last week, I met up with my sweet friend from college.  Laura and her hubby just adopted their 5th child (they have 3 biological and have now adopted 2) and I was needing to meet this sweet boy and also catch up with his mama.  We met at our usual Chili's and then did some shopping.

I had a dr appt on Monday so Shawn and I went to Leander on Sunday evening and stayed with Jason and Amy so that we would be there for our morning appts.  They took us to a YUMMY restaurant called Hopdoddy.  Organic/local food.  Homemade gluten free buns.  It was awesome.

Yesterday, Hudson got his braces off.   These days, he hates having his picture taken. I had to beg and bribe for this one and he was not thrilled.

Yesterday we met with the brick and stone guy and made our selections.  I'm getting excited!

Then today, we had our first 3 hour appt at the design center.  It was  LOT and we are both so drained.  It was fun.....but we ran over time and are still behind in our selections.  We had to pick some big/important stuff today- wood floor and stain, kitchen cabinets, granite, back splash, tile, etc.... We go back in a couple weeks for our second appt.  We plan to go one time in between by ourselves to look at it all again.  Thankfully we have very similar taste but its still pretty stressful.

Cooper finished another puzzle this weekend.  This kid is getting fast!
