Summer Bucket List

Friday was a half day and the LAST day of school for my boys.  We are officially in summer mode.  Cooper spent the night with a friend and his mom sent me pictures of them swimming.

He came home on Saturday and fell asleep after taking a shower.  He must have partied pretty hard. :)

A couple of weeks ago, the boys and I came up with some things they wanted to do this summer.  Obviously, I added a few things in.....since I doubt learning to deep clean and do laundry makes their list.

Saturday night was game night at our house!!

Sunday night we took the boys to the Drive-In theater in Fort Worth.  My boys had never been so it was neat to show them how our parents used to watch movies.  They had outside tables and food to eat.

Since we had never been and it was also a holiday weekend, I had no idea how crowded it would be.  To say we got there a tad bit early was an understatement but the weather was amazing so we just hung around outside.

Cooper played with some of the other kids.

We got to visit and do some people watching.  That's always interesting.

The sunset was fantastic.

View of downtown from our car.

Today we have stayed around the house.  My boys dove into one of their "crates" that I started ordering them at Christmas time.  Every month, they get a new box that contains all the supplies to make something or to do an experiment.  I get the Tinker Crate for Hudson.  There are some pretty cool things to build inside.

Use this link and we both get $10 off our next box.

Cooper likes the Spangler Science box.  Lots of fun experiments.  I love that it includes everything he needs and I'm not searching around the house for supplies.

Use this link to try this one out.

Graduation and Girl Weekend

This guy graduated from 5th grade on Thursday.  He looks so grown up and handsome.

Accepting his awards.

The ceremony was precious.  They let each student choose their favorite scripture and then they each got to read it to us.  I totally didn't expect that and I started bawling as I listened to these precious kids speak truth to the crowd. I completely love our school!

At the very end, all the 5th grade teachers pulled out a fidget spinner and started spinning and acting silly....much like those kids do in class I am sure.  It was hilarious.

With some sweet friends!

Afterwards, several of the kids headed to Dave and Busters to celebrate.

We got there a little early so they played in the parking lot.  They were not excited one bit, huh?

Thursday afternoon, one of my BFF's from college came to stay with us.  We met for dinner/drinks at Uncle Julios and did a little shopping.

Friday morning, we took the boys to school (last day!!) and headed into Southlake for lunch, manis and pedis and more shopping.

Then it was dinner and a movie and Keller Moviehouse and Eatery.

My favorite find during our shopping trip.

Such a fun and much needed girl time.  Amy (aka: Gim) lives near Austin so we just don't get to see each other as much as we would like.  Shout out to our hubbies that held down the fort and took care of kids so that we could play!!

Houston Trip and Last Week

I have a few herbs in pots on my back porch and my rosemary is really taking off!  The other day, I used this and some basil in one of my recipes.  I love having fresh herbs here!

On Saturday, Coop and I went to our local Farmers Market and picked up a few goodies.

We have had an issue with flies and gnats/fruit flies the last couple of weeks. We've had some trades here working and they have left our front door open (carrying in large windows, touching up our iron door, etc.) and its been driving me crazy!  I looked online for some natural ways to get rid of them and I tried these 2 suggestions:

Pour Apple Cider Vinegar into a bowl with some dish soap.

I then cut a water bottle up and basically did the same thing.

I got a bunch in the bowl and zero in the bottle.  We haven't had any issues since so this definitely worked!!

After all these years......we got a robot vacuum cleaner. Hudson has begged for years.  When he was really small, he would watch commercials about the Roomba and then give Jason and me a little infomercial on why we needed one.  I was staying home at the time and we just never seemed to have an extra few hundred dollars to justify getting one.  Even at 14, Hudson was over the moon excited when we took it out of the box. I will admit that this thing is WAY over my head and its up to him to get it to work.

You can even control him by an app on your phone. Notice how my boys named him Thor? Ha!

This little guy is into collecting State and National Park quarters these days.

I found some collector books on Amazon that he LOVES.

The only problem is that he is impatient and wants them all filled up today.  So, my apologies in advance if my kid asks you for a quarter!

Mamas.....can I get an amen?

Monday morning, Cooper had to be at school for his class trip.  They took a chartered bus down to Houston to visit the space center and the Kemah boardwalk.  To say he was excited is an understatement.  The night before he kept telling me he didn't think he would even be able to go to sleep!

These kids are ready!

With his sweet friend, Joshua.

This has been a crazy month and an even crazier week.  We have half days and finals and play dates but FRIDAY is our last day!  Woo-hoo......bring on summer!!
