Moving and Easter Fun

So this just happened.

I have mixed feelings about this.  I have lived in my house for almost 15.5 years now.  Its the longest I've ever lived somewhere.  I moved around a ton when I was little so this house has provided such stability for me.  Jason and I started building our house the week after we got home from our honeymoon.  Even though its a smaller/starter home, we found a custom neighborhood and created our own floorplan and picked every single thing about our house.  It holds so many memories of him and that has been really neat for me over the last 4.5 years since he's been gone.

When Shawn and I got married, he obviously moved to us.  I tried really hard to not cause too many things to change at the same time for my boys.  It was a great decision.  But Shawn and I knew that in the future, we would move and create a new home for us.  I'm excited about the future and the process of building new again.  Change is hard but needed sometimes.

Cooper had his first baseball game on Friday night.  He is still learning but did pretty good.  He had a good time so that makes me happy!

The chocolate bunny tradition continues.  When Shawn and I started dating, he was amazed to learn that my kids had never had a chocolate bunny for Easter.  I'm not a huge fan of sugar, so their Easter baskets always contained practical things instead of a bunch of candy.  Of course, they would get candy in their eggs but a chocolate bunny was never something I felt the need to include.

So since Shawn felt my boys were deprived......he started the bunny tradition.  They do look forward to it each year.

Woke up to find the Easter bunny had left his basket.  I'm pretty sure this is the last year he will believe.....he was really pressing me and asking me questions.  But I could tell he still wanted to believe it was real.  I have a feeling that this is the year he will discover the truth about Santa, the Tooth Fairy, etc.....

Like I mentioned, Easter baskets have always been practical.  I've seen some baskets that look like Christmas.  Its crazy.  Our baskets usually contain a new swim suit, flip flops, pajamas, one outfit, a water toy......things they really needs and that I would be buying them anyways.

Yesterday, we went to my sister's house for Easter brunch.  We had yummy food and got to sit outside and enjoy the weather.  It was a bit chilly but it was still really nice.

Want to know the way to get your 13 year old to hunt for eggs?  Fill them with money of course!

Checking it all out.

These crazy kids got in the pool.  They said it was freezing but they did it anyways.

Hot tub fun with cousins.  Colton was home from college so it was great getting to see him too.

Love my family!

Spring Break and Easter Eggs

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a friend's house for a Wildtree party.  You basically show up with 10 gallon sized baggies full of protein and veggies and add these organic seasonings to the bags. Stick them in the freezer and you instantly have 10 meals to use on nights that are crazy.

The prep work was a beating.   A couple of hours and lots of meat later.....I was ready.  Here are my finished bags.  We actually ate one last night and it was good!

We have been busy busy lately on the house situation.  That's right.....we are starting the process and look forward to building a fabulous new home.  Fresh start.  I think we all need it.

Last Friday, Cooper got to spend the day at Hudson' school.......he had to do some testing and then he got to "shadow" in a classroom to see what its like.  He was so excited and had a great time. He is pumped that he gets to go there next year.  So glad he's excited.

This past week was Spring Break.  My boys spent the week between my moms and Jason's moms.  They had a blast.  Bowling.  Movies.  Smores.

Meanwhile. I had a dr appointment in Round Rock so we got to spend the night with one of my BFFs from college.  Amy.....aka "Gim" is one of my faves.

While out at my mom's house......the boys found this turtle.

And some friends that were also visiting their grandma.

Cooper's birthday fell over Spring Break.  It was the first year I wasn't with him.  Kinda made me sad but he was having a blast. He followed in brother's footsteps and asked for a big chunk of cash in place of a party. So I sort of lucked out this year since I didn't have to plan or coordinate anything.  Anyways, my little guy turned 10!!!!  No more single digits in my house :(

We got them back yesterday and Cooper was so excited to dye Easter eggs.

This is the reaction I get any time I pull out my camera.  I sure miss the days when photo ops were a breeze.

Shawn's good friend, Curt, came to eat dinner with us so he joined in on the fun.

These make me laugh!

Baseball and a Birthday!

This little guy asked to play baseball this season.  So here he is before his very first practice.

You could tell that he felt kind of "lost" but he tried really hard.

Doing what the coaches told him to do.

Can't wait to see how he improves after all these practices.

After baseball, we headed up to Cooper's school for the carnival.  This is his last year.....he always loves to go.

Doing the cake walk.  No cake wins for us.

He loved the petting zoo. This kid will love on any animal he sees.

This morning, Cooper's school had donuts with dad.  Can't tell you how blessed we feel to have this guy to do things like this with the boys.

And this little punkin turned 13 today.  How in the world do I have a teenager?

He opted out of a big party......he preferred money (he's saving for a nice laptop) so we had a simple celebration at home. This week is busy with end of 9 weeks tests, school, track meets, etc... but we still wanted this guy to know how much we love him!

Fun weekend and NJHS

Last weekend, Shawn was gone for a men's conference for Young Living so it was just the boys and me.  Cooper kept begging to play the longest game in the world Monopoly.  We played for an hour or so and stopped.....but we  had lots of laughs at Hudson- who ended up in jail about 10 times in a row!

Took the boys to the park but made a stop at my favorite juice bar.  Fresh lemonade and apple juice!

My big guy doesn't enjoy pictures anymore and I usually have to sneak a picture in order to get one.  It makes me sad to see how big he is and how he doesn't really enjoy the park anymore.  He's too cool for it now.

This little guy is excited to try baseball.

On to another puzzle!

So proud of Hudson!!  He was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society.  Shawn is helping him with his first tie.

This is what happens when you ask your 9 year old to take your picture. #picturefail

Super proud of him!!
