Date Night and Losing our Rudy

The other day we took the boys to a movie rental place.  It was the first time they had ever been in one and it was so funny explaining to them that back in they day, we had to physically go and pick out a movie.  Our kids are so used to everything digital and right at your fingertips.  They were kind of in awe.

Ever since Hudson was in about first grade he has been talking about all the Chucky movies.  Apparently, lots of people let their kids watch scary movies at a really young age.  For the last several years, Cooper has also been talking about the Chucky movies.  We finally decided to break down and let them watch it.  Granted, its rated R (the language is bad) and I'm pretty picky about what my boys watch......but its kind of nice to have that checked off the list.  Cooper was scared during a few parts.  He wanted to watch it the next day and had to have all the lights on and me close by.

Have you seen that little video floating around FB where they compare the Yeti cups to 2 other brands?  Shawn got a Yeti for his birthday last year and has loved it.  I've been too cheap to spend $40+ on one but when I saw this video and realized I could get the same size cup with same or better results for HALF the price I decided to order one for myself. I mean......Amazon Prime can be dangerous sometimes!!  Used it yesterday for the first time and it kept my water really really cold.

I am SOOOO over all the political crap on the news and Facebook.  I'm tempted to get off both until January.

I see some people get really tacky about the debates.  This made me laugh!

Last night, we had date night and met some friends for dinner and a movie.

Went to Gloria's in Southlake.

Catching up with John and Cindy.

We saw the new Jason Bourne movie.  It was great!!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don't think I've blogged about this yet because it makes me too sad to search for pictures or to write about it.  We had to put our sweet Rudy dog down last month when the boys were at camp.  Jason and I got him before we had kids and he was our first "baby."  We had 14.5 good years with him and we miss him a lot!

Oily Fair in Bertram

Yesterday, I drove down to Bertram, Texas (kinda near Austin) to teach a class for a team I have down there.

Getting checked in.

Lots of fun "oily" things for sale.

T-shirt and jewelry

The display table

The building they used was really cool- lots of old town character.

Taking a selfie before we got started.

Teaching essential oils to about 50 women.  Now if you know me in real life then you know that this is so out of my comfort zone.  I hate crowds.  I hate being the center of attention.  But I do love sharing how these products have helped my family.  Feels so good to help others become more chemical free.

Some of the sweet ladies that put this event together.

With, Sandi.....my partner in crime for the day.  This is her entire group.  She is such a sweet friend and a great leader for her team.

Friday Favorites and Other Stuff

I realized the other day that its been forever since I've done a Friday Favorite post.  I sort of forgot until yesterday though so I quickly snapped a few pics of some things I'm loving right now.

1.  Rodan and Fields roller.  I don't use R&F skincare products but this tool is pretty cool.  I've had it about a year now and when I consistently use it, I can really tell.

2.  Bag from Noon Day Collections

I purchased this bag several months ago from a friend that was doing a fundraiser.  I had been eyeing this bag for a year or so when I saw it at a Noonday party I attended with a friend.  Go to their site and read their mission.  I love the purpose behind this company- supporting women and children from 3rd world countries.

3.  Car Diffuser
As you know, we LOVE our essential oils and we have a diffuser in every room of our house.  At convention in June, I purchased this car diffuser and I love, love, love it.

4.  This book

I live in Texas and it gets so hot in the summer. Seriously, at this point if you are not in the water then its not worth even being outside.  In May, I created a chore list for my boys and one of them was to walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes each day since I know that being outside is pretty miserable right now.  A few weeks ago, my oldest was grunting and complaining about having to walk on the treadmill.  In the house. With air.  And cold water.  I think that is when it really hit me that my kids can be brats sometimes.  We honestly try our best to teach our kids about money.  We don't buy them everything they want.  We make them use their own money for lots of things.  They hear no often.  But at the end of the day, they are still WAY more blessed than most of the world. It's just how it is.  A friend mentioned this book to me and I immediately ordered it.  I'm only a couple of chapters in but I can tell this will be a favorite.  I find myself saying "yes" over and over again as I read the authors words.  I'm looking forward to working on the "entitlement" issue at our house.

_________________________________________________________________________

I've never been one that loves to watch the news.....because let's be honest- its depressing.  I prefer to put my head in the sand and live my life without all the sad or scary stories floating around in my head. I usually get informed on current events through FB or the occasional time I click on my CNN app on my phone.  I often wonder how much more God can take?  I know his heart is breaking as he watches what has become of our world.

I am SOOOO excited about the Natural Grocer store that is coming to our town.  This will be a straight line to our new house.  There are some items that I've only found at Natural Grocer (can't find them at Sprouts or the organic section at Kroger) so this is great news for me!!

Like I mentioned above.  I've over it!

Sweet boy and I started PiYo last week.  Dying.

We finally have plumbing!!  This process is taking forever and a day so it was exciting to see some work on our lot.  Plumbing inspection should happen today and if it doesn't rain next week (please pray for no rain......even tho we need it!) so the slab can get poured.  If there is even one drop of rain on the dirt they can't get their machines on to pour.

My house feels like a frat house these days.  Staying up super late (like 1-2am) and sleeping until 10-11 the next day.  Its ridiculous.  But I try to remind myself that this is what summer in your childhood looks like.  In a few years, Hudson will have a job and as you get older, you just don't get the chance to do this.  School starts 3 weeks from yesterday so we only have a handful of days to do this before we need to start getting ourselves on a better routine.  None of us are going to be prepared for those alarm clocks again.  Not ready for summer to end!

Got the original Ghostbusters from Redbox today since the boys haven't seen it. While making dinner, I'm singing in the kitchen:
Me: "I ain't afraid of no ghost....🎧🎼"
Me: "who ya gonna call _________"
Cooper: "Auto Nation"

Hilarious!!!

Weekend with Family

Last week when Amazon had their Prime Sale day, I finally decided to snatch up some copper mugs for our Moscow Mules.  I am addicted to this drink in the summer.  Its so refreshing!

On Friday afternoon, we drove to Royse City to stay with Shawn's sister.  Her son, Tanner, turned 11 and had a pool party.

They have a couple acres...which means cows

....and chickens.

And fresh eggs.

On Saturday, we got up and drove about an hour or so to their land in Clarksville.  They have several hundred acres there.  The boys wanted to ride together so Hudson and Kyler were in our car.  Neither of them would cooperate with a picture.  Teenagers!!

The boys playing a game of Bean Boozled.

This my friends is why I live in the city.  Just no.

Last night, we all played Bean Boozled.  If you haven't played it yet, go and get it.  We had lots of laughs!

Having to eat a yucky jelly bean.  I got raw fish twice and almost threw up!

Then we were on to Pie Face.

Today the boys rode 4 wheelers, shot a gun and went fishing.  It was super hot outside but they still had a great day.

Fun weekend with family!
