Jason's Story

Jason and I started dating in April of 1999.....
 ......got engaged New Years Eve......
 ......married in June of 2000

We went on to have 2 amazing little boys....
...that were the light of his world.

To say he was a great daddy was an understatement.

He loved being a part of our family traditions....

Our life was pretty simple.  But we wouldn't have it any other way.
He loved teaching them and showing them new things.....

.....and sometimes doing things that mama didn't want to do with them.

He loved the Texas Rangers and the Texas Longhorns.
He loved Star Wars and building Legos with the boys.

We enjoyed vacations and road trips.
But most of all, we just loved each other!

Our world was completely rocked when Jason died on October 5, 2011 from an aortic dissection.  We had no warning...no clue that he was sick.  He was thin.....he exercised 3 days a week.....we ate healthy.....he didn't drink excessively and he didn't smoke.  He was just 40 years old.

You can read about that day here
And when I told the boys here
If you want to start at the beginning, this is my first post after he passed.

This blog has been so therapeutic for me.  It's my safe place to go when I want and need to share my feelings because it's hard for me to do so in my real life.  I don't candy coat this journey.  It's hard and it sucks.  I have faith in God and I know He has a plan but I also try to keep it very real.  I can't be strong every minute of every day and I feel it's my job to let you see every side of the grieving process.

I can't even seem to find the words to conclude this "story."  We miss Jason in such a huge way.  My heart and my life will never ever be the same now that he's not in it.  He was an amazing man with a smile that lit up the room.  He was kind and honest and in the 12 years that I knew him, I never heard a single bad word about him. Not one.

I've said from the very beginning that I have 2 choices on how I handle this.  While it's not always natural and it's not always easy.....I choose joy.  God instructs me to do it.....and Jason would want that.

"The Lord has done great things for us.  And we are filled with joy."
Psalm 126:3

I found your blog from mix and match family blog. You left a comment about ironing your boys play clothes and I thought to myself that sounds familiar. I used to iron everything. Not as much anymore but your comment made me want to check out your blog. As I looked around I saw Jason's story at the top and just had to click it.
I lost my son over a year ago and of course still struggle daily. He passed very suddenly and have wanted to write about the day he passed but just couldn't bring myself to do it. Reading this makes me want to do it even more. Thank you for being so open and letting me read a little about your family.
