Turning 40 and Christmas Fun.....

Hudson will be turning 13 in March and he's been telling us for a few years now that he is the only kid without a phone.  While I'm sure there HAS to be another crazy protective mom out there like me, I just didn't feel it was time for him to have one.  He finally got one last week and he was beyond thrilled.

So now begins the game of staying ahead of my kid in the iphone app world.......

Cooper had his Christmas party at school last week.  Doing a book exchange.

Making cocoa.

With his sweet teacher, Mrs. L.

The room moms did a great job this year and the ornaments were so cute!

With my little guy. Soaking this up because I know he won't want me there for much longer.

I turned 40 on December 17.  Hubby got me some beautiful flowers.

With my boys!

Date night with the hubby.....eating at one of our favorite places.

Enjoying some wine.

Going to our favorite theater.

Finally getting around to seeing this.  It was just okay for me.

Our annual Gingerbread making day with Grammy took place last Friday.  The boys look forward to it every year.

Getting it just right!

They sure love their Grammy!

Last Saturday, we celebrated Christmas with Shawn's family.  Opening presents with the cousins.

Excited to see what he got.

On Sunday, we celebrated with Jason's dad and step mom.  Here are the boys with Jason's sisters.....Hannah and Maya.

Being silly......

The boys have been bugging us to watch a scary movie.  We decided to cave and let them watch the new Poltergeist....which was not scary AT ALL.  In the beginning (before realizing it was cheesy) they were snuggled up super close together.  Scardy cats!

Caught sweet boy enjoying his popcorn.  Ha!!

Took the boys to see the new Star Wars last night.  My little Darth Vader was excited.

Enjoying Christmas break so far.  Good movie!

My Week

Had lunch last week with my sweet Laura.  We met in college at ACU and she's one of my favorites.  So thankful for her.

Date night!  One of Shawn's friends got engaged on Saturday so we headed out to their engagement party.

College roommate Christmas dinner.  We may not see each other much during the year but we make a point to spend a night in December catching up.

Tried my first castor oil pack the other night.  Anyone else tried this?

Cooper's holiday feast today at his school.  Can't believe this is his last year at his elementary school.

Doing some work in my new Lula Roe leggings.   These are seriously so soft and comfy.  It feels like yoga pants but is way cuter.  Find someone that sells this and get yourself a pair.

Life Lately

Here is what we've been up to lately.  There is still so much I need to post about our last trip but I haven't made the time to sit down and do it.  So for now, here is a little of what has been going on.

I love catching the boys in moments like this.  Fully engaged in something.  Playing so well together.

The day after Thanksgiving, we got our Christmas tree and decorations down.

Until we move and have a larger home......I will always choose to put up the "kids" tree.  The one with all the homemade ornaments.  I LOVE looking at their sweet pictures and hand prints.  I know many people have beautiful trees that match the colors in their home.  One day.  For now, its all about the kids tree.

The boys have gotten so much better as they have gotten older but this is still a struggle.  Anyone else?  I have to fight back the urge to move the ornaments around.

And seriously.....the amount of online shopping lately is crazy.  But, it sure beats fighting the crowds or standing in lines.

Our next (and hopefully last major project here) started last Monday.  Our master bathroom is getting an overhaul.  They are replacing the floor in the bathroom and also in our closet.  Our closet has been the biggest nightmare for years.  Too much stuff.  We knew we had to get everything out so that they could remove the carpet and replace it with the wood tile so I figured I might as well go through it all and decide what needed to go.  So about 3/4 of my closet got donated.  Ah, it felt great. I know it will feel even better once we can move everything back in and get it all organized.  I donated it to a local charity that gives to sweet families going through a hard time.

And so it begins......

Our fireplace will finally get finished this week too.  When we got our floors done, they removed the tile for us and covered it with plastic.  Its been an eye sore so we are thrilled to have it finished.  I pray it looks as good as my mind says it will.

Last week, I ran to get a quick pedicure.  I came out to a dead car.  Shawn came to help me but because of where I was parked, our jumper cables would not reach.  We had to put it in neutral and push my car back....

Even though he is smiling, he is not happy.  This day was crazy for him and I could not help but laugh.  Cuz that's what I do in awkward situations.

I've posted on here before about all my skin issues.  I've come to realize that my insides are majorly messed up.  I had some interesting blood work done a couple of weeks ago (more on that later) and I discovered that I am highly acidic, I have a TON of Candida, I am not absorbing minerals, and a lot more.  I was told that I need to follow a strict alkaline diet for at least 6 months.  So, I ordered this book and cookbook to help me out.

To jump start this alkaline diet, I have decided to do a 10 day juice cleanse.  I am on day 7 today.  I don't have a tired/foggy brain, my skin is improving, I feel "lighter...."  I ordered several juices here so that I don't have to make them all.  I'm pretty sure I would not do the full 10 days if I had to make everything.

Last week, my upline hosted a Christmas party for everyone that is local.

My friend, Kim, went with me.

Being silly in the photo booth

With Michelle.  We met Michelle and her husband on the cruise this summer and we just love them.

I skipped the catered BBQ and had juice instead.

My team member, Diane, came too.

My sweet friend, Cassidy.....has such a gift for hosting amazing Make and Takes.  Her home is beautiful and she is so crazy organized.  We paid a certain amount, brought a handful of our oils, and walked away with lots of great chemical free gifts.

Sweet friends

Love all these girls.

So any time you lose a loved one.....its hard.   The fall all the way through the holidays is especially hard. I miss him.
