I'm pretty confident that sweet boy thinks I'm the world's clumsiest person ever. Last Thursday, one of my sweet little preschoolers accidentally kicked my foot (he was wearing sneakers and I was in flip flops. He won) on the way to chapel. He sort of walked into my foot.....but because my foot was completely exposed (Old Navy flips do not offer any sort of protection in case you were wondering) my pinky toe took the full hit. I'm also confident that if I had not been in the presence of 13 sweet little 3 year olds then profanities would have surely flown from my mouth. Oh my. By the time I got home, I was limping because putting pressure on my foot was painful. My toe started to get bigger and was turning all shades of purple.
Sweet boy got home and saw me sitting with an ice pack in the living room. After inquiring about what happened he just walked towards our room while shaking his head. He mumbled something under his breath....that I'm sure I would not have liked. Ha!!

Cooper says soooo many funny things and I'm horrible about writing them down. One thing that tickles me right now is when the boys are in the car and watching a movie. If it comes to a part that is funny and he wants to watch it again, he will say "forward it back" instead of rewind. It drives Hudson crazy.
Many of you know that he's a speech kid. He didn't talk a lot when he was little. We started in-home therapy once a week when he was 2 and then he qualified for a program with our school district when he was 3. He did that until he started big school and then attended speech in kindergarten too. He still has some sounds that are not perfected (it's actually quite adorable) but those should develop over time. You would never know that this kid was short on words as a toddler because this boy DOES. NOT. STOP talking. Ever.
A common word that he uses is "remember".....because he often reflects back on things from the past. But instead of saying remember the correct way, he says "renimber." It's precious and the minute he starts to say it the right way, I'm going to have to correct him. Oh, I could just eat him up sometimes!

So is it weird that I'm glad we didn't win the Powerball lottery?
Let me back up and say that I've never been a big lottery player. Jason always felt it was a HUGE waste of money and it's something we never got in the habit of doing. I honestly never even thought about it or kept up with it.
Shawn has always played a little bit.....he buys a few tickets when the jackpot gets really big. He never spends a ton of money but feels that you can't win if you don't play. I do agree.
With this previous powerball totalling around 600 million we did decide to buy a few tickets and toss our name into the hat. On the way to church on Saturday, we talked about what we would do if we did win. I first want to say that I'm so blessed to be married to a man with such an awesome heart. We were on the same page with every single bit of it......even getting excited at the thought of being able to give millions away, pay off houses and debt for our families, and do some pretty neat things with it. Our first thoughts were honestly how we could help others and make changes for people. Then we slipped down the "okay but then we would buy a vacation home in Jackson Hole and one in the Caribbean, etc...." and that was fun too. But it's hard to wrap my brain around having 300 million (est. cash out option) and all the junk that comes with it.
You see, I have zero desire to have that much money. You can imagine the 3rd cousins you never met coming out of the woods and all the people that would expect a handout from you. Over time, I'm sure your lifestyle changes would continue to creep upwards and in my opinion.....more money often equates to more headaches. More toys, bigger houses, more things that can break and go wrong, etc...
I actually love my simple life.
God doesn't say that money is the root of all evil for nothing. He knows money does some really yucky stuff to people. And I don't want any part of that. My desires are not of this world.
So a few minutes before the numbers were announced, I looked at Shawn and told him that I hoped we didn't win. I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy. And clumsy.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. - 1 Timothy 6:10
